DAY 1:
Visit Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara. Drive to Cappadocia.
Overnight: Cappadocia

DAY 2:
Visit Göreme Open Air Museum, Cavusin Old Greek Village, Avanos Pottery Making, Pasabagi Fairy Chimneys, Devrent Valley, Urgup and Uchisar Castle in Cappadocia.
Overnight: Cappadocia

DAY 3:

Drive to Antakya. Visit Antakya Archaeology (Mosaic) Museum, Church of St. Peter in Antakya.
Overnight: Antakya

DAY 4:
Drive to Gaziantep, visit Gaziantep Archaeology Museum, Drive to Sanliurfa, visit Birecik for Bald-Ibis birds en route.
Overnight: Sanliurfa

DAY 5:
Visit Abraham's Cave, Pools of Holy Carp, oriental covered bazaar and Gümrük Han, Harran Mud-Brick Houses, drive to Kahta.
Overnight: Adiyaman or Kahta

DAY6:
Visit the Mt. Nemrut, Arsemia, Septimus Severus Bridge, and Karakus Tumulus. Drive to Mardin, visit Ataturk Dam en route.
Overnight: Mardin

DAY7:
Visit Mardin Streets, the Deyrulzafran (Saffron) Monastery and drive to Diyarbakir.
Overnight: Diyarbakir

DAY8:
Visit basalt city walls and Ulu Camii in Diyarbakir. Fly from Diyarbakir to Istanbul.

DETAILED ITINERARY (10 Days & 9 Nights)


DAY 1: ANKARA-CAPPADOCIA

The tour starts from the hotel or airport in Ankara. The first stop is the Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the resting place of the founder of modern Turkey, who was responsible for revolutionizing the country, and is still revered as a great national hero. After a lunch break in Ankara Castle, we visit the Anatolian Civilizations Museum, where we can see the masterpieces of 16 different Anatolian Civilizations. After visiting the Anatolian Civilization Museum, drive to Cappadocia.
Overnight: Cappadocia

DAY 2: CAPPADOCIA
Meet the guide and driver in the hotel, and start discovering Cappadocia's unique landscape; first stop is the highlight of Cappadocia Region, Goreme Open Air Museum to witness the living art of Christian and Byzantine history on cave churches. Then we drive to Çavuşin, an old Greek village to discover the civil architecture in Cappadocia. We have lunch at a local restaurant in Avanos where has been the centre of terra-cotta art since 2000 BC. After lunch drive to Pasabagi or ‘Monks Valley’ to see the fascinating mushroom-shaped pinnacles. Then we drive to Devrent (Imagination Valley) to see different shapes of fairy-chimneys. Before returning to the hotel we visit the natural rock castle at Uchisar.
Overnight: Cappadocia

DAY 3: ANTAKYA
Breakfast and departure for Antakya, the biblical city called Antioch, is situated next to Asi (Orantes) River in the fertile plains surrounded by the high mountains. This is the city where the word "Christian" was used for the first time. Its museum has one of the richest Roman mosaic collections of the world. The major parts of the fantastic stone paintings were found during the excavations in Antakya and around Daphne. Outside the city there is the Cave of Saint Peter which was a church constructed in a cave where the apostles gave their first preach and where the Christian community settled down.

DAY 4: GAZIANTEP

We depart from the hotel to visit Gaziantep which is famous for its mosaics and delicious food. We visit the Gaziantep Archaeology Museum, which has the nicest mosaic collections of the world. On way to Sanliurfa we visit Birecik which is renowned for its bald-ibis (Kelaynak) birds. These birds are living only in Birecik in the world and there is a very limited population of them. We visit the breeding farm of Bald Ibis birds.
Overnight: Sanliurfa

DAY 5: SANLIURFA-HARRAN
We depart from the hotel to visit Abraham's Cave and the Pools of Holy Carp surrounding it. We walk around oriental covered bazaar and Gümrük Han. We drive to Harran a village of Mud-Brick "beehive" houses mentioned in the book of genesis where Abraham spent the last years of his life.
Overnight: Adiyaman or Kahta

DAY 6: MT.NEMRUT-MARDIN
We depart from hotel very early in the morning up to the Mount Nemrut. At the end of the road, we get off the van and walk twenty minutes until the summit. Here we watch the memorable sun rise between the colossal size statues and heads of the kings and Gods. We then visit Arsemia where was once the capital of the Commagene Kingdom before continue to the ancient Septimus Severus Bridge over Cendere stream, and Karakus tumulus where members of the royal family were buried. Drive to Mardin. We visit the Ataturk Dam which is the biggest dam in the Middle East, en route.
Overnight: Mardin

DAY 7: MARDIN
Mardin looks spectacular with its tiered layers of houses, mansions, mosques and churches rising out of the endless, plain and clinging to a huge citadel-topped rock. In Mardin we visit the Deyrulzafran (Saffron) Monastery which is still used by the Syrian Orthodox communities. After visiting the monastery we drive to Diyarbakir.
Overnight: Diyarbakir

DAY 8: DIYARBAKIR
We depart from the hotel to visit Diyarbakir where we visit basalt city walls, which were built by the Romans. And we visit Ulu Cami, the first of the Anatolia’s great Seljuk Turks’ Mosques. Fly from Diyarbakir to Istanbul.
